Union Pacific Bridge 19.06 Lufkin Sub – Segment Replacement Length: 873.2 Feet
This project included the replacement of the existing bridge at milepost 19.06 over the West Fork San Jacinto River in Harris County, Texas. The existing structure was 979.5 feet in length, and comprised of 39 spans with varying type and length. The proposed replacement structure consisted of the following:
- Four 30-foot pre-stressed concrete box ballast deck (PCB-BD) spans (120 feet)
- Seven 90 to 100-foot through-plate girder ballast deck (TPG-BD) spans (672 feet)
- One 52‐foot beam ballast-deck (BMBD) span
- One 32-foot PCB-BD span
The TPG spans on land are supported by 24‐inch diameter steel pipe piles and pile caps. The main steel spans across the river were supported by 18’ X 18’ pile reinforced concrete foundations, 6.5-foot diameter reinforced concrete columns, and 52.5’ X 7’ X7’ reinforced concrete caps. All of which were formed and poured in place.
